Reimagining navigation for neurodivergence
Navigating unfamiliar public spaces is more than a challenge for neurodivergent individuals; it is a significant barrier to independence, with 40% of travelers requiring full assistance in new environments. By synthesizing complex environmental data into a sensory-friendly navigation ecosystem, the platform replaces traveler anxiety with a measurable sense of ease and autonomy.

Discovery
सौंशोधन
Our prompt for this project was:
Design a Product for Neurodivergent Individuals
Research Findings

Design Direction
We compiled our research, gained insights and converted them into actionable steps for the app.
Safety
A sense of security while using the app
Wayfinding
With new, unconventional methods
Habits
Built on user routines and habits
How might we improve navigation for the neurodivergent?
Design
डिझाईन
We began the design process with crazy-8s to sketch the primary screens and interactions.
Next, we translated these sketches into editable wireframes for future iterations.
Evolution
I spearheaded the creation of mid fidelity prototypes that incorporated the Navigaid branding.

Delivery
बनवणे
Navigaid's branding incorporates existing symbols of representation for autism and ADHD as well as the navigation elements.

What I learned
मी काय शिकलो
Wireflows before Wireframes
While design screens, we came across problems as to how we were going to add additional screens in as our requirements went up alongside new user testing results. Had we worked on solidifying our wireflows first, we could've had a faster designing process, possibly with more iterations.
Hierarchy is important
As new designers, we had no idea what hierarchy meant. Our initial designs lacked cohesion and was confusing for our users because of inconsistent hierarchy. It was only after going back to the drawing board that we figured out which elements had priority to be displayed on screen that our designs were fixed.
